Welcome to Blue Ridge Council Merit Badge University 2019! We will be changing things a little bit this year by offering it over 2 weekends, January 19 and January 26, so sign up for both weekends. First weekend will be mainly at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and various satellite locations (maps available on registration website).
Second weekend will focus on Roper Mountain Science Center for a weekend of STEM merit badges. We will be adding classes as we confirm instructors so check back often. We hope this change will allow scouts to have new experiences as they travel on their journey to First Class or Eagle Scout.
In the case of severe weather, we will move the weekends back to February 16th or 23rd, if needed. We always need volunteers to help us with two deep leadership so make sure your troop has volunteers ready to go, if needed.
Registration will close on January 7th. This allows us time to get rosters ready and instructors to be able to reach out to their scouts and parents. Payments will be due by January 4th at 4 pm and scouts will be dropped from classes on January 5th. Refunds will be given if we have a severe weather postponement.
Scouts will need pen, paper and merit badge worksheets (instructors will not have them). If a class goes past 1pm, they will need to bring a lunch. Please see additional instructions under each merit badge.
Don’t miss out on Adult Training offered: Scoutmaster Specific and Committee!!!
Trading Post will be at BSUMC on 1/19
We look forward to another great event and thank you for supporting our event!

The 20th Annual Valentine Run 5K begins at beautiful Lake Tomahawk Park and visits 3 of Black Mountain’s Greenways. The 5K course offers several challenging hills and ample flats. The final 1/2 mile follows the gravel path around the lake and finishes at the Lakeview Center.
Enter as a two person team or go solo. All participants are included in the Overall and Age Group awards. The 5K is a 2019 Asheville Track Club GP event.
Kick off Valentine’s Day with a run with your sweetheart. Husband/Wife teams compete in one of three categories. Not married? Run with your Mom, Dad, friend, or neighbor. Any two people can be a team. Awards go to the top 5K team in the following divisions: Husband/Wife (three categories) , Mother/Daughter, Mother/Son, Father/Son, Father/Daughter, Sister/Sister, Brother/Brother, Sister/Brother, & Open (any couple) – M/F, M/M, & F/F.
Always a favorite the Kids ½ mile Fun Run is one lap around the lake. The path is free of traffic and monitored by race volunteers allowing kids to run freely with or without an adult support crew.
We encourage all kids and adults to wear Valentine costumes, as the “Spirit Award” will be given to the most outrageous outfits.
The Free Kids Fun Run Starts at 9:30AM and is Free.
The 5K Starts at 10:00. Check out http://runsignup.com/Valentine5K for details. Race day Packet Pick Up is onsite from 7:30 – 9:00am.
