SMC’s men’s soccer team will play against Richard Bland on Saturday, September 29 at 2:00 pm. The game will be held at Nash soccer field. It is free and open to the public.

This will be my third year at Mountain Heritage Day, I truly enjoy visiting my alma mater, #WCU in beautiful #JacksonCountyNC. I look forward to seeing all of my returning customers and all of the new ones from this year! Here is a description of the day from the shows website.

The 44th annual Mountain Heritage Day will be a combination old-fashioned mountain fair and showcase for Southern Appalachian music, arts, dance and song, with the atmosphere of a big family reunion. Visitors will find three stages of traditional old-time, gospel, and bluegrass music and dance, with plenty of fiddles, banjos, and clogging. Festival-goers are invited to join in workshops at the Circle Tent and participate in shape-note singing, one of the mountains’ sacred traditions. Admission and parking are free so bring your family and experience all that our rich heritage has to offer.

The Limestone College football team, playing in its fifth season, will host the Mars Hill University Lions in the 2018 Homecoming game on Saturday, September 29, at 4:00 p.m.

The Saints’ home football games are played at Gaffney High School’s stadium, known as “The Reservation.”

Never been camping? Afraid of the dark? You’re not alone. Join a park ranger and take this rare opportunity to camp in Chimney Rock State Park. A ranger will be available at 5:30 pm to help set up camp and build a campfire for a fun filled night under the stars!

Run for the turtles! The South Carolina Aquarium Turtle Trek, a 5K sunset beach run and kids’ fun run, will take place Saturday, September 29 on Isle of Palms.

Proceeds from the Turtle Trek support the Sea Turtle Care Center™ and the Aquarium’s conservation initiatives. To date, we have rehabilitated and released more than 250 sea turtles back into their natural habitats.

Registration includes race entry, technical T-shirt and after-party access. The after-party will be held at the Windjammer and includes awards, food for all runners, music and a raffle with excellent prizes.

Pricing through August 31:
5K sunset beach run – $40 + fees SOLD OUT
Kids’ fun run – $20 + fees

Parking is in the Isle of Palms County Park lot, and the cost is $8 per car. Parking is free for County Park Gold pass members.

Corley Plumbing Air Electric will be well represented this year as Chris Corley and Bryan Rodgriguez are both competing in Dancing with the Carolina Stars to benefit Senior Action. Chris is one of the celebrity dancers who needs all of your votes! Bryan, a Corley HVAC Technician, is one of the Pros who has been a Colombian salsa dancer since 2003.

This evening is a fundraiser to support Senior Action an organization that serves over 4,000 seniors in the Upstate by offering programs that include health and wellness, education and art classes. meals, transportation, and even minor home repairs and maintenance.
