Local craft distilleries will come together to offer samples of their distilled liquors while we snack on hors d’oeuvres by Chef 360, enjoy pours from Razz Bartending, listen and dance to music, and bid on silent auction items…all while raising money for neglected, abused, and homeless animals in the Upstate and beyond!

We are thrilled to present the second annual Whiskeys for Whiskers event: Ruffdell High. The movie “Grease” has been inspiring fashion and entertainment for decades and it’s the inspiration for our theme this year’s event to be held on May 11th, from 6-10 pm, at Southern Bleachery in Taylors, SC (just outside of Greenville.)
At the event, sample from local distilleries, chow down on eats provided by CHEF360 Catering and dance the night away with DJ JB. The Razz bar will be serving up cocktails made with liquors from the participating distilleries all evening. Don’t let the name “Whiskeys for Whiskers” fool you – distilleries are making everything from liqueur to shine to vodka these days! Our bar will also have beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages available.
Join in our theme by dressing the part (Or not! Just so there is a place for that wallet!) and participating in the Hand Jive contest judged by local celebrities…prizes for the most creative! (Contest spots are limited so register early!) We’ll have tons of silent auction and raffle items too.
Tickets are on sale online now. Just head to our website www.whiskeysforwhiskers.com and click on the “tickets” tab at the top of the page. Taste Tester Tickets are $55 and include entry to the event, tastings at the distilleries, and one alcoholic beverage from the bar. Designated Driver tickets include entry to the event and one non-alcoholic beverage from the bar. All attendees, regardless of ticket type, must be at least 21 years old. Note that DD ticket holders will not be able to purchase any alcoholic beverages at the bar or participate in tastings. Ticket prices increase by $10 on the day of the event so buy now!
Skip the line at the info table by adding alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage tickets as well as an entry to the Hand Jive contest while purchasing your tickets online. We also have an opportunity for you to memorialize a beloved pet who has crossed the bridge during our slideshow.
Not local to Greenville? Reserve a room at the Quality Inn in Greer just a few miles from the event. We have a block of rooms for a discounted rate of 94.50 per night plus tax. Call 864-848-4995 for reservations. Be sure to mention Whiskeys for Whiskers to get the discount!
Watch our website and social media pages for a Lyft coupon in the week leading up to the event and catch a ride to and from the event space. Please drink responsibly!
We are so excited for this year’s festivities! Hope to see you there!

“Lord, what fools these mortals be!” Join the Guerrilla Shakespeare Theatre Company as they dive into the fairy world with their upcoming production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This award-winning theatre company brings a Shakespearian fever dream to six different Upstate locations this May.
The Guerrilla Shakespeare Theatre Company is a theatrical activist collective based in the upstate of South Carolina. The company won five awards, including “Best Play,” at the 2018 South Carolina Theatre Association competition. This production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be directed by Erika Phoenix. This will be her directorial debut with the company. Midsummer will be her first full-length project in South Carolina since completing an MFA in Physical Theatre at the Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a wild, intense romp through the forest, complete with mistaken identities, power plays, and unpredictable declarations of love. Just when a character knows what they want, there is an unexpected turn of events and everything spirals out of control. The audience dives into the dark with dreams of love and acceptance with the performers. With a cast of nine playing a total of 20 characters, prepare to be lost in this magical and wonderful world where “the course of true love never did run smooth.”
All productions are pay what you can. This performance will be outdoors, so bringing a chair or blanket is recommended to enjoy the show.

A singular presence in the ballet world, Dance Theatre of Harlem presents a powerful vision for ballet in the 21st century. Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the multi-ethnic company performs a forward-thinking repertoire that includes treasured classics and neoclassical works by George Balanchine and resident choreographer Robert Garland, as well as innovative contemporary works that use the language of ballet to celebrate African American culture.
Founded in 1969 by Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook as an affirmation of the power of art to transform, the Dance Theatre of Harlem company — comprised at that time of African American artists barred from US ballet companies because of the color of their skin — became an expression of human excellence that broke down barriers and inspired millions.
Program (subject to change):
Valse Fantaisie (George Balanchine): When George Balanchine created this version of Valse Fantaisie to Mikhail Glinka’s music of the same name, he employed his signature musicality, fleetness, and brilliance. Valse Fantaisie is performed by five women and one man who capture the music’s joyful spirit in this gem of neo classicism.
This Bitter Earth (Christopher Wheeldon): Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon’s sublime pas de deux This Bitter Earth is set to a mashup of Max Richter’s minimalist “On the Nature of Daylight” and Dinah Washington’s soulful rendition of the 1960s rhythm and blues hit “This Bitter Earth.” The resulting brief encounter between a man and a woman leads one to believe that “…this bitter earth may not be so bitter after all.”
Return (Robert Garland): A rousing blend of the elegance of classical ballet and the gritty drive of funk, Return is set to Aretha Franklin and James Brown to push the boundaries of pointe work and social dance alike.
Change (Dianne McIntyre): This work is inspired by women – Black, Brown, and Beige – who have refashioned the neighborhood, the country, and the world through their vision, courage, and endurance. Often unsung, inconspicuous, or up-front, these individuals could be called warriors for change.
