~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~About the Event~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
KIRTAN:
Through call and response chanting we have the opportunity to create a deeper connection to yourself, one another, and the Divine. We experience the stillness of our true self by letting the mind to quiet down and our inner self-expand in the sound of sacred chanting. Through this, each one of us can enjoy the peace born of our true nature. When we chant we open to pure love, and through pure love, we bring peace to the world and to ourselves.
Sangita Devi lead kirtan on a weekly basis bringing community together to share in satsang and devotion in Asheville and the Southeast region for 15 years. For more info check out: www.SangitaDevi.com
This will be the 14th consecutive New Year’s Eve event that Sangita Devi has hosted. We are excited to once again bring our amazing community together to celebrate and bring the new year in together.
WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE?:
It is free-form dance to a soundtrack that is designed to take you on a journey from a deep reflective space, all the way up to a driving high energy peak – and back down again. Some people meditate, some people do yoga, and some dance into ecstatic joy. The most important thing is that other peoples’ safety is honored.
SOUND HEALING:
Sound therapy helps to slow our breath and shift our brainwaves. As the powerful sound waves wash over our bodies, stress and worry dissipates, and our minds thoughts move into the background. Focusing on the landscape of peaceful sounds helps to activate the deep intelligence within our body and spirit…opening us up to a greater perspective, allowing subtle shifts, and healing to happen spontaneously.
Here are some of the instruments that Billy uses for each session: planetary gongs, gemstone and crystal (alchemy) bowls, West African harp, didgeridoo, handpan, and many other special instruments.
SACRED CACAO:
Binah Crabtree has used her depth of knowledge of herbs and cacao to create special blends used for Cacao ceremonies. A wide range of raw cacao treats from Sacred Cacao blends will be available for purchase in the Lounge.
TEA:
The Tea Lounge is an Intentionally curated space with a delightful selection of aromas, tastes, smell, lighting, and subtle soundscapes. The magic of the Tea Lounge allows people to take a moment, connect and engage with one another. We are excited to share with you this experience of relaxation, rejuvenation, and celebration!
****CO-CREATIVE ALTAR & ART-SPACE****
We will have an altar where you will be able to write, draw and paint your intentions into a glorious and bold new year! We’re really excited about this to find out more, you’ll just have to come on New Year’s Eve! :D
CHILDREN Please note that children are welcome to attend with their families, but there will be no childcare provided. We ask parents to keep your children with you and help them to respect the quiet times, ESPECIALLY during the intention-setting ceremony. This is important. Thank you! ***
Children 12 and under free~
VOLUNTEERING: There will be a limited number of work/trade options for people who would like to participate but who are tight with funds – or who would like to contribute in a non-financial way. If this is something that interests you, please email Samata at [email protected]
***All ticket sales are final. No refunds given. In the event of cancellation, tickets will be honored at a future event.***
The Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration akin to an art performance. This demonstration operates in a structured manner that triggers curiosity and interest from the public; we attempt to lead bystanders to a vegan conclusion through a combination of local standard-practice animal exploitation footage and conversations with a value-based sales approach.
Masks, signs, and outreach literature are provided. Black upper clothing appropriate for the weather is essential, and please bring a fully charged laptop or tablet if you have one. If you are bringing a laptop or a tablet, please download the following:
Merit Badge University
Jan 19 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Welcome to Blue Ridge Council Merit Badge University 2019! We will be changing things a little bit this year by offering it over 2 weekends, January 19 and January 26, so sign up for both weekends. First weekend will be mainly at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and various satellite locations (maps available on registration website).
Second weekend will focus on Roper Mountain Science Center for a weekend of STEM merit badges. We will be adding classes as we confirm instructors so check back often. We hope this change will allow scouts to have new experiences as they travel on their journey to First Class or Eagle Scout.
In the case of severe weather, we will move the weekends back to February 16th or 23rd, if needed. We always need volunteers to help us with two deep leadership so make sure your troop has volunteers ready to go, if needed.
Registration will close on January 7th. This allows us time to get rosters ready and instructors to be able to reach out to their scouts and parents. Payments will be due by January 4th at 4 pm and scouts will be dropped from classes on January 5th. Refunds will be given if we have a severe weather postponement.
Scouts will need pen, paper and merit badge worksheets (instructors will not have them). If a class goes past 1pm, they will need to bring a lunch. Please see additional instructions under each merit badge.
Don’t miss out on Adult Training offered: Scoutmaster Specific and Committee!!!
Trading Post will be at BSUMC on 1/19
We look forward to another great event and thank you for supporting our event!
