Come join us on February’s First Friday at GCCA for the opening reception of the Flight Pattern art exhibition. Admission is free and open to the public.
Flight Pattern juxtaposes the work of two contemporary artists, sculptor Nathaniel Foley (Findlay, OH) and printmaker Monika Meler (Stockton, CA), who emphasize fragility as it relates to aviation and memory.
Monika Meler’s journey as a Polish immigrant to America underscores the visual patterns she creates. As time passes, memories change, distort and blur together. Her layered prints repeat and change direction on top of each other, mimicking the process of remembering.
Nathaniel Foley was immersed in the field of aviation at an early age, instilling an inclination to defy limitations. Foley’s delicate sculptural forms, made of various cones, are held together by tension lines. For Foley, aviation dances the line between grace and imminent danger.
Thank you to Greer Walker CPAs & Advisors for sponsoring the Flight Pattern exhibition.

First Fridays Solo Exhibit “Contained” Michelle Jardines
Jardines takes us on another journey in exploring the fragility of connection. In this series, Jardines walks us through the past four years and the process of relinquishing and letting go of the ego, judgement, and shame.
Series V: “Contained” allows us to bridge the gap between what is expected and what is truly desired.

INTERESTED IN SHOWING?
If you are interested in showing please submit for jury selection right here on Facebook over on The Art House of Greenville.
ATC Trading Wall info for artists and guests:
We will have a small wall dedicated to mini art that is tradable for free – So if you participate you will not go home with your art, but rather someone else’s. The artists interested in joining in will bring a few small ATC’s and we will display them all together. Other artists and guests will be encouraged to also bring ATC’s that they can trade out with something already on the wall. So the wall will be constantly changing through the show. We will also have a few supplies there for everyone to make an ATC so they can make a trade!
So your interested but, what is an ATC you may ask? I am just going to pull right from Wikipedia for this: Artist trading cards (ATCs) is a conceptual art project initiated by the Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann in 1997. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. Artist trading cards are 2 1⁄2 by 3 1⁄2 inches (64 mm × 89 mm) in size, the same format as modern trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards). They are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in the collaborative performance.
SO! With that being said, let me know if you would like to participate and bring some fun mini art to be traded. Bring a few extras just in case you see something on the wall you just HAVE to trade for ;) They must all be 2 1⁄2 by 3 1⁄2 inches, but any media goes!!! Make sure to put your name, Instagram, etc is on the back but also include “Art House of Greenville November First Friday 2018”. If you already participate in ATC’s you can also bring some you already have. If you don’t but it sounds cool there are a lot of websites where you can do mail trades and it’s pretty fun! http://www.atcsforall.com/ is pretty active!
