Join New 4RMations for our next Men’s Group in Spartanburg, SC at RiverBlade Knife & Fly Shop starting Tuesday, January 8, 2019 and running every other week as we work through John Eldredge’s live Wild At Heart Boot Camp Videos.
Why do I need this?
A man needs a deeper understanding of why he longs for adventure, battle, and beauty.
What if? What if those deep desires in our hearts are telling us the truth, revealing to us the lives we were meant to live?
This is not another accountability group book study. This will form a band of brothers who have your back. Come journey with us and experience adventure.
Dinner: For those who can, please join us next door to RiverBlade at Bangkok Thai Restaurant at 6pm for dinner. The group will gather at RiverBlade at 7pm.
Supplies: Each meeting will start with a video from John Eldredge’s actual Boot Camps; he and his team will be the presenters. You will be responsible for purchasing your own copy of Wild at Heart if you would like to read it as we go along. They are available here.
Friends and Drop-Ins: By all means, bring a friend. This is always an open group, and reading the book prior to attending is not required, so drop-ins are always welcome. Never too late to join us.
Please RSVP by selecting “going” on this Facebook event. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

Please join us at Hub City Bookshop at 6pm on Wednesday, January 9, for the January meeting of our book club, Her Story.
The book club meets on the second Wednesday of each month to discuss books about women by women. January’s selection is Lindy West’s Shrill, which will be 10% until the 9th of January.
Her Story Reading List:
January 9 – Shrill
February – Americanah
More about January’s selection:
Coming of age in a culture that demands women be as small, quiet, and compliant as possible–like a porcelain dove that will also have sex with you–writer and humorist Lindy West quickly discovered that she was anything but.
From a painfully shy childhood in which she tried, unsuccessfully, to hide her big body and even bigger opinions; to her public war with stand-up comedians over rape jokes; to her struggle to convince herself, and then the world, that fat people have value; to her accidental activism and never-ending battle royale with Internet trolls, Lindy narrates her life with a blend of humor and pathos that manages to make a trip to the abortion clinic funny and wring tears out of a story about diarrhea.
With inimitable good humor, vulnerability, and boundless charm, Lindy boldly shares how to survive in a world where not all stories are created equal and not all bodies are treated with equal respect, and how to weather hatred, loneliness, harassment, and loss–and walk away laughing. Shrill provocatively dissects what it means to become self-aware the hard way, to go from wanting to be silent and invisible to earning a living defending the silenced in all caps.

A comprehensive 18 hour childbirth class which includes nutrition, informed consent, and much more. This class will meet for six Wednesdays from 6pm-9pm.
This series is my favorite to teach! It is full of joy, play, and expectation. And the best thing about Mindful Birth is that each series is different. This isn’t a canned program; rather it is a creative and innovative conversation between the instructor and students. I hope you’ll join the conversation!
Dates: January 9- February 13
Mindful Birth is a 6 week series that grew organically from the private classes I created for individuals. I’ve been teaching this series since 2009. It is appropriate for women choosing home, birth center, or hospital birth; medicated or unmedicated.
Expectant women may attend alone or with their partner/friend/doula. The defining philosophy behind this series is that attitude and expectation are key to having a positive birth experience. The classes are 3 hours each and meet weekly. The series breaks down like this:
Class 1: Enjoying a low-risk pregnancy (nutrition, exercise, positive story, meditation)
Class 2: Physiology of normal birth
Class 3: Variations (labor dystocia, prodromal labor, interventions, informed consent)
Class 4: Celebrating your birth (an overview and practice of many coping techniques)
Class 5: Planning for your birthplace (understanding options of chosen birthplace, birth plans, packing a birth bag)
Class 6: Comprehensive birth rehearsal and postpartum prep
You will receive two books as part of the series: Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn by Penny Simkin and Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin.
Registration is required and space is limited. A deposit of 75.00 is required to confirm your space. The balance of 200.00 is due at the first class.
