In the intimate setting of a small music hall, the Foothills String Quartet takes the stage (2 violins, viola and cello) – a smooth blend of sound that is as delicious as a café latte on a cold morning. The concert features an ethereal and emotive selection of musical compositions with themes along French Impressionism, contrasts of darkness and light, hope and despair. This experience features two selections by Claude Debussy; Reverie and Clair de Lune. Lili Boulanger’s D’un matin de Printemps brings the joy of a spring morning. Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique Movements II and IV, are inspired by his intense and unrequited love and despair. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique Movement II, is graceful and poetic against Movement IV, a deeply mournful lament. Concertgoers will bask in a musical journey inspired by dreams and visions.
