This year, the Auro Bridge in Unity Park in Greenville will radiate a powerful orange hue and local businesses at the Commons will be displaying posters aimed to echo the commitment to “ZONTA says NO” to violence against women. On November 25, 2023, the ZONTA Club of Greenville will gather at the Auro Bridge to celebrate the campaign and join the global “Orange the World” to draw attention to violence against women and girls. Every year, we Zontias participate all over the world through Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women.
The start date of November 25 is called orange day and we try to “Orange the World”, it is the one instituted by the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The campaign is also supported by the UN and it ends on December 10 on the International Human Rights Day. The purpose of the campaign is to draw attention and engage everyone around the world to stand together to end violence against women and girls.
All over the world, buildings are lit up in orange, people wear something orange and get involved by organizing events and demonstrations – all to draw attention to and create a commitment to violence against women and girls.
