Potential Traffic and Parking Issues This Friday

The Bon Secours Wellness Arena will host the Trans-Siberian Orchestra this Friday, December 7, with shows at 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Each show has an estimated attendance of 10,000.

Because the first show coincides with regular business hours and Greenville’s normal peak traffic times on Friday, those living and working in areas around the arena should be aware of potential traffic and parking issues that may arise.

Due to the time of day, city parking facilities will have limited capacity for the first show, so the potential exists for some individuals to seek out parking spaces in areas near the venue. As a result, on Friday, businesses in the vicinity of the arena with private parking lots may want to take measures to secure their lots. Additionally, motorists traveling into and out of downtown should consider using an alternate route to avoid getting caught in arena traffic before and after each show.

The event parking rate of $6 will be in effect at the Church Street Garage (320 N Church) beginning at 1:00 pm. The event parking rate will also be in effect at the Commons Garage (60 Beattie Pl) and Liberty Square Garage (65 Beattie Pl) beginning at 2:30 p.m.

For those willing to park farther away from the arena, the Richardson Street Garage (66 Richardson St) and West Washington Street Deck (101 W Washington) offer free weekend parking beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday. Attendees of the 8 p.m. show can also utilize the Heart of Main trolley to get to and from the arena. Trolley stops are conveniently located near City parking facilities and the route also includes the parking lot at County Square (301 University Ridge). The trolley will drop passengers off at the arena box office from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and pick passengers up after the show from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Visit ridegreenlink.com to view the Heart of Main route map and download the Trolley Tracker app for real-time locations of the trolleys. Visit parking.greenvillesc.gov for a complete list of parking facilities, as well as an interactive parking map.

As a reminder, the Bon Secours Wellness Arena has a clear bag policy for all events. Each ticketed guest can carry one large clear bag (either a Ziploc-style bag or a 12”x6”x12” clear bag), plus a small clutch purse (4.5”x6.5”), which must be carried into the venue outside the clear bag and is subject to search.
