Indie Craft Parade Returns This Weekend

The Indie Craft Parade is an annual festival of handmade art by artists from across the Southern US. This weekend-long event features a highly-curated selection of handcrafted goods in a variety of mediums.

The festival hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, Sept. 15 and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, Sept. 16. A comprehensive guide to the festival can be found on the Indie Craft Parade website.

The festival highlights the amazing work that is coming out of the South. While there are fantastic makers throughout the country, the festival focuses on our regional neighbors. This model not only encourages festival attendees to buy local, but also introduces them to artists with whom they can build ongoing relationships.

To maintain its regional focus, the festival only accept applications from artists who live in the Southern area of the United States, as defined by the US Census. These states include: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

This year’s venue is located at Southern Bleachery Marketplace at Taylors Mill, 232 Mill Street, Taylors, SC 29687. This is the first large building on the historic Taylors Mill property. It is approximately 8 miles from downtown Greenville. It is significantly larger, which means there will be an expanded number of artists, wider aisles, and designated outdoor spaces for local food and beverage sellers — all with the goal of making a more pleasant experience and reducing wait times.

Upon arriving at the festival entrance, attendees will see flags that designate festival grounds. To enter festival grounds, all attendees over 12 years of age must pay $5 admission and wear a wristband. The wristband is valid for the duration of the festival, so attendees may come and go as they please from the festival.

Anyone who enters the festival without a wristband will be sent to the ticket booth to purchase one.

And although Hurricane Florence is on the minds of everyone in the region, the festival will continue as scheduled as it is an indoors event. Please visit the Indie Craft Parade website for any additional updates.
