Downtown Master Plan Meetings Postponed Due to Approaching Storm

Due to the uncertainty around Hurricane Florence, and the impact on the consultants’ travel schedules, this week’s design charrette for the Downtown Master Plan and the associated public meetings have been postponed.

The new dates will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

The project team for the Downtown Master Plan has spent the past few months processing and summarizing the extensive feedback they received in June and exploring potential design concepts and ideas. The new plan will provide a deep-dive into the past, present and future of downtown Greenville and will be tempered by market and fiscal realities.

The objectives of the plan are to attract and retain businesses, residents, and visitors while ensuring the uniqueness and authenticity of downtown; position downtown for the attraction and retention of a workforce for the new economy and continue the right blend of development and redevelopment.

In addition to Urban Design Associates, the project team also includes Hawkins Partners (landscape architecture/public space design), HR&A Advisors (market analysis), Thomas & Hutton (civil engineering) and Walker Parking (parking strategy).

The public can follow the progress of the plan at greenvillesc.gov/DowntownPlan and submit feedback online at greenvillesc.gov/DowntownPlanComments.
