Tami Miller, Greenville Chamber Leadership Development Director, received national recognition for her outstanding contributions to our community through her work in building leaders in the Upstate.
The Preceptor Award was presented at the recent Central Plains Regional Conference held in Wichita, Kansas.
“Preceptors are individuals with a level of expertise making them capable of lending guidance to others,” said Juliann Jankowski, Chair of the Association of Leadership Programs. The Preceptor Award recognizes the cornerstone of successful leadership development efforts and is the highest award the Association of Leadership Programs presents. “Ms. Miller is a true example of a community leader that has made significant and notable contributions here in Greenville, SC.”
The Preceptor Award is intended to recognize a program director who has gone above and beyond, who has achieved a new standard of excellence and demonstrates civic and community engagement. Some of the criteria include the following:
- Actively oversees an entire leadership program
- Demonstrates creativity in leadership development
- Demonstrates effective communication skills
- Models “best practices” of leadership development and mentors others
- Demonstrates dedication to strengthening and transforming community leadership
- Must be responsible for a community-based Leadership Program
Tami Miller exemplifies this honor by building meaningful relationships with all stakeholders of the Chamber’s Leadership Development programs in a manner that builds cohesiveness between program members, community leaders and opportunities to serve in our community.
A current Leadership Greenville class member shared “I can honestly say that Tami’s passion for helping others and for LG is shown in all that she does.”
Tami also serves as a mentor and connector as program participants grow in their leadership roles within their companies, in the Chamber and in the community. She is dedicated to setting the example for best practices nationwide in Leadership Development programs and builds relationships with her counterparts in our region, state and across the nation through her role as Ambassador for the Association of Leadership Programs.
