Please join us for an evening of glorious music in our third collaboration with the Spartanburg Festival Chorus and director Keith Jones!
“Two Composers, Two Worlds” celebrates the legacy of composers George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, featuring selections from “West Side Story” (lyrics by Stephen Sondheim) and “Porgy and Bess” (lyrics by Ira Gershwin and DuBose Heyman). From gorgeous, haunting melodies like “Maria,” “Somewhere,” and “Summertime,” to the catchy rhythms of “America,” and “I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin,'” there will be plenty of highlights for the whole family to enjoy.
Don’t miss your chance to celebrate these giants of American music, partly in honor of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday! Come to Daniel Recital Hall at Converse College (580 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29302) on Friday, August 24. You will get swept away as Spartanburg Repertory Opera and Spartanburg Festival Chorus take you from Catfish Row in the slums of Charleston all the way to the streets of New York City.
