The Sustainable Symphony: Requiem of Solace

Mon. Apr. 16, 2018 | 7:30 pm

Requiem of SolaceRequiem of Solace, a new English translation of Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem written by Alissa Deeter, is an elegant and poetic interpretation in a contemporary and living voice that is geared towards the idea of renewal and regrowth instead of death. The work captures a particular essence of intimacy and healing through the use of The Sustainable Symphony versus the grandeur of orchestra.

The Sustainable Symphony is a project that seeks to become the premiere alternative in orchestral programming by offering highly trained collaborative pianists as orchestral substitutes in performance. These pianists functionally codify an approach to large-scale repertoire that increases cost-effective performance opportunities for masterworks. By bringing these large-scale orchestral works to venues and audiences of all sizes and demographics, the series pioneers a new approach to accessibility, flexibility, and affordability. This project will reestablish the option of small concert settings as excellent venues to host great masterworks, making these works much more widely available in live performance. This project is partially funded by the Sorel Foundation.
