Information

It was 20 degrees outside on January 19, 2018 when the Carolina Music Museum gave Greenville a “sneak peek” into what we were about and for a good part of that magical evening Stephanie Schmidt, from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she is pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in their Historic Keyboard Performance program, played the Lyles Square Piano on the second floor. Now, almost a year later she returns for an evening of American popular music from the early part of the 19th Century, matching the music to the instrument, and giving us a glimpse into what we were whistling and singing together way back then. American history reflected in its music–a happy spoonful of music does help the history go down!

Stephanie is a great believer in the beauty of historical instruments. She has presented at annual meetings of the Historical Keyboard Society of North America for the last five years (on both fortepiano and harpsichord) and takes great pleasure in delighting listeners with unconventional selections. She shares her musical insights of period performance with over 30 piano students in Cary, NC. Come and get your spoonful on December 8 at 7:30! Call 864-520-8807 for your tickets. $20 for adults, $5 for students 6-18. Beer and wine will be available.
