Majolica is an ancient type of pottery in which an earthenware clay body (usually red earthenware) is covered with an opaque white glaze then painted with stains or glazed and low fired. During this 2 day workshop (part 2, Feb 9), students will create a simple, hand-built pottery piece, practice decorative techniques and apply their own decoration to the bisque fires work.
This week we will be making pottery using hump/slump molds to glaze the following week.
The second week (Feb 9) we will glazing and painting. If you choose to only register for the 2nd Saturday, you will be provided with bisqueware to glaze and decorate.
