Assalamu alaikum Brothers and Sisters,
Zainab is a two years old girl in Florida and is battling an aggressive form of cancer. Her blood is extremely rare because she is missing a common antigen that most people carry on their red blood cells.
We are holding a special Blood Drive at Upstate Islamic Center on Jan 18th from 12-5pm to see if we can find a matching donor for Zainab. There will be two buses from blood connection, one for male donors and one for female donors.
Statistically, the only people who are likely to be a match for Zainab are people of Pakistani, Indian or Iranian descent. However, we encourage everyone to donate as non-matches are still saving lives in the local hospitals. Each blood donation saves three transfusion patients.
Donating blood saves cancer, chemo, leukemia, trauma, transplant and severe burn patients.
Please bring your ID. Everyone 16 and older can donate. No age maximum. If you are 16, your parents will need to give you the approval to donate on the mobile.
Please see the attached flyer for more details. You can also reach out to Sister Johnna Malici, Sister Shabana A. Syed, Sister Dina Altwam or Sister Fareeha Qazi with any questions.
Jazakum Allahu Khair
