AUDITIONS: August 4, 2018, 1:00-4:00 pm; August 5, 2018, 6:30-9:30 pm

Directed by Jeff Catanese with music direction by Rob Blackwell

AUDITION NOTES: Doing something different for this one! For AVENUE Q auditions, please familiarize yourself with the show and learn the portion of the song(s) associated with the character(s) for which you are auditioning (note: songs and sheet music are on our website – follow the link above or below). Be prepared to sing in the voice of the character, as per the Original Broadway Cast recording. No need to prepare an additional 16 bars of music – just prepare the song for the character for which you are auditioning. If you’d like to audition for multiple characters, please prepare the song for each character. Please do not transpose the music into another key.

All roles will be cast without regard for race, except where noted in the breakdown. Puppetry experience helpful.

We are especially seeking a strong-singing African-American male or female, 20s/30s for the role of Gary Coleman, and an Asian-American female 20s/30s for the role of Christmas Eve.

Adult language and themes in the show, so please be 18 or older at time of audition.

Please read full breakdown and get sheet music here: http://ashevilletheatre.org/get-involved/audition/#avenueqauditions

About the show: This puppet-filled witty and raunchy musical comedy follows a group of twenty-somethings seeking their purpose in big-city life. Recent college grad Princeton moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q where he and his new-found friends struggle with issues of love, sex and sexuality, unemployment, and identity.
