We are excited to partner with the Dry Ridge Museum to bring you an evening of storytelling with Dr. Delanna Reed. Dr. Reed, a member of the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild, is a professor with the Department of Communication and Performance at East Tennessee State University.
Join us as we bring folk tales of southern Appalachia to life through spoken word, weaving in stories of the Vance family. David Vance Sr. and his wife Priscilla Brank settled in the Reems Creek Valley in the 1790s. Their farm eventually totaled almost 900 acres including 18 enslaved people. These stories celebrate the traditions and cultures of the people who called the North Carolina mountains home in the early 1800s.
This program is FREE and will be held at Wild Mountain Bees at 23 Merrimon Avenue! Space is limited and reservations are strongly encouraged. To reserve a space call the Vance Birthplace at 828-645-6706. Enjoy light refreshments or purchase some local honey to enjoy later!
