Mark Twain
For the second summer in a row, under the direction of Kathy Genevie, the Abbeville Opera House Youth Theatre will present a summer long series of theatre classes that will culminate in a full scale production of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain on August 1, 2, 3 and 4. Tom Sawyer has been made into dozens of feature films and television shows and this large cast Opera House production evokes the world of boyhood in nineteenth-century rural American. In this classic story, Mark Twain re-created a long-ago world of freshly whitewashed fences and Sunday school picnics into which some very interesting characters intrude. This play, according to Kathy Genevie, “powerfully appeals to both adult nostalgia and young imaginations.”
