National Geographic, The National Audobon Society, and over 150 other organizations have declared 2018 the Year of the Bird. This is to commemorate the Migratory Bird Treaty Act’s 100th year! Lake Conestee Nature Park is well known in the birding community for it’s diverse array of bird species. To date we have counted 219 different species of birds in the park; most of which are migratory species. To help celebrate this milestone in conservation and to bring awareness to the birds at LCNP we will have several bird related public programs this fall. We hope you will join us!
The first of our programs to celebrate birds will be an art in nature experience! This is an instructional painting class like you would find at the “Wine and Design” places around Greenville (alcohol not permitted). Samantha will walk you through the painting stroke by stroke so no artistic experience is necessary! Check back to this event page for a picture of the painting Samantha has chosen for us to do.
