Sickle Cell Public Notice

Effective for service dates on or after May 1, 2014, SCDHHS will amend the Title XIX State Plan to add Sickle Cell Disease Management Services. 
SCDHHS will make this change to improve the quality of life and address the healthcare needs of the Medicaid population of South Carolina. Services will be available to beneficiaries diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease and direct services will be provided by enrolled Disease Management Organizations (DMO) specializing in the management of Sickle Cell Disease.
SCDHHS projects that upon implementation of the action noted above, annual aggregate Medicaid fee for service expenditures will not be impacted as this action represents a change in the Medicaid services that were previously delivered to this patient population.
