You know him from Boondock Saints and Young Indiana Jones. Now meet accomplished actor and director Sean Patrick Flanery in person as he discusses his debut novel, Jane Two, a coming-of-age novel on the bittersweet yearnings of youth and opportunities missed and gained.

He will be at a book talk and signing on Saturday, July 16th, at 4:00 pm at Fiction Addiction. This event is free and open to the public, but please RSVP to Fiction Addiction if you plan to attend.

“I saw you today. My mouth didn’t work, but I was shouting with my eyes.”

Jane Two is about that magical moment in each of our lives when we are neither too young to reason, nor too old to dream. A young Mickey navigates through the dense Texas humidity of the ’70s and out onto the porch every single time his Grandaddy calls him, where he’s presented with the heirloom recipe for life, love, and manhood. But all the logic and insight in the world cannot prepare him to operate correctly in the presence of a wonderfully beautiful girl who moves in just behind his rear fence. This magical moment divides Mickey’s life into a “before and after” and permanently changes his motion down the unpaved road to which only a lucky few are granted access.

An accomplished actor and director, Flanery makes his foray into the literary world with Jane Two. Flanery explores “firsts” — in particular, first love. He says, “I think love is life’s most potent narcotic. And our first exposure to it is rarely handled correctly. But it does offer a taste of something that we’ll chase, usually unsuccessfully, for the rest of our lives.”
