Greenville County Student Ballplayers Return Home

Northwood Little League players have returned to the Upstate after competing in the Little League World Series. They were greeted at Greenville Spartanburg International Airport by more than 200 cheering fans.

Northwood is the first South Carolina team since 1950 to compete in the Little League World Series. They were eliminated in a 4-3 loss to Kentucky.

Some of the players attend three Greenville County Middle Schools, Riverside, Northwood and Mauldin. In the crowd at the airport were classmates and teachers. Young fans waited for autographs.

The boys will return to class on Monday. According to their school principals the hero’s welcome will continue with banners in car line and the cafeteria.
