City Working to Help Motorists Traveling on Woodruff Road

With the holiday season quickly approaching, and so many popular shopping destinations located on Woodruff Road, the Greenville Police Department will be providing traffic control at key intersections around Magnolia Park and The Shops at Greenridge beginning the day after Thanksgiving and continuing throughout the month of December.

The traffic management plan will include providing directional guidance through the use of electronic message boards, managing key signalized intersections and restricting left-turn movements at various locations on Woodruff Road between Roper Mountain Road and Market Point Drive.

Additionally, SCDOT traffic engineers have been monitoring traffic cameras along Woodruff Road to observe traffic patterns and determine when the roadway is most congested. Currently, the less traveled times of day on Woodruff Road are weekday mornings between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and on Saturday mornings before 10:00 a.m. Not surprisingly, traffic is heaviest on weekdays from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. into the evening hours.

To avoid or minimize delays, motorists are encouraged to consider planning their trips to Woodruff Road for those times of day when traffic is less congested and to consider using alternate routes to Woodruff Road, including Roper Mountain Road, Salters Road, Carolina Point Parkway, Miller Road and Garlington Road.
