Benton Blount Chosen As Parade Grand Marshal

The City of Greenville has chosen Benton Blount, a recent finalist on America’s Got Talent and popular performer at City special events, to serve as the grand marshal for the annual Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade.

Blount will lead over 80 parade units in the event that is scheduled for December 5th at 6 p.m. on Main Street.

“It’s an absolute honor to be the grand marshal for this year’s parade,” said Benton Blount. “I fell in love with Greenville the first trip I made and basically decided then that it would be my home. The love and support I’ve received in the years living here are beyond words, and I look forward to the many years to come!”

Blount is a country singer and guitarist who has been playing music for nearly 15 years. He has toured almost every state in the U.S. and made his mark as a finalist on the 10th season of America’s Got Talent. Blount has performed at numerous local events, including Downtown Alive, Red, White and Blue and Fall for Greenville and is signed with Golden Music of Greenville.

The one-mile parade route will stretch from North Street to Augusta Street on Main Street and feature musical marching groups, elaborately decorated floats and, of course, Santa Claus. The parade is free to the public, and spectators will find ample places to view the parade, with prime seating located from the Main Street Bridge south toward Falls Park.

The parade will stream the following week on the City’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/user/GTVchannel15. For more information about the Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade, visit events.greenvillesc.gov.
