Furman Symphony Orchestra Presents Russian Masterworks

The concert, “Russian Masterworks,” is a Sound Quality Concert Series event on October 27th and is open to the public. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.

The program includes Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Procession of the Nobles” from Mlada; Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, Op. 48; and the Firebird Suite by Stravinsky. As described in program notes by Bruce Gbur, “The Firebird, or Zhar-Ptitsa, is based on a Russian fairy tale and involves the magical bird of the title, a young prince, a captive princess, and a terrible ogre who cannot be killed until the secret location of his heart is found.”

The performance, which takes place at McAlister Auditorium, begins at 8:00 pm and is scheduled to last an hour and a half. Visit news.furman.edu for additional information.
