"Voice of the Gamecocks" Bob Fulton Passes Away
at Age 89

Bob Fulton, the voice of the Gamecocks for nearly 50 years, died November 3 at his home in Lexington. He was 89 years old.

Fulton was one of the legendary announcers in college athletics. His career with USC spanned from 1952 to 1964 and 1967 to 1995. He worked football, basketball, and baseball games for the Gamecocks Sports Network. His career at USC spanned 13 athletics directors, 10 basketball coaches, nine football coaches, and 10 university presidents.

Fulton was a major proponent of regular physical activity. It was, he said, what kept him going.

Fulton was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993.

Fulton also was a steadfast Gamecock fan and Life Member of the University's Alumni Association. Read more about his dedication to the University in his "My Carolina Member Profile" by clicking here.
