T&WA, a supplier of tire and wheel assemblies to the automotive, agricultural and construction industries, announced today plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Greer, S.C. The $6.8 million facility will be located in Gateway Industrial Park and will supply tire and wheel assemblies to the BMW plant in Greer. Construction will begin immediately on the 43,000 square-foot facility with production beginning in July 2002. The company expects to employ 21 people initially.
T & WA has six vehicle assembly plants throughout the US, and has a very successful track record as an automotive suppplier. T&WA joins a long list of automotive suppliers in the Upstate area whose primary account is the BMW plant located in Spartanburg County. Governor Jim Hodges said, �T&WA�s decision to locate in the Upstate shows the strength of our state�s economy. �We are delighted T&WA recognizes our state�s capable workforce and access to established and new markets are vital elements to success. We welcome them as our newest members of Team South Carolina.� Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Chuck Ewart said, "Spartanburg County feels extremely fortunate to have attracted the T&WA manufacturing facility. This is another example of a good paying jobs made available to our citizens as a result of the decision made in 1992 by BMW to locate in Spartanburg County. We look forward to continued success for BMW and its many suppliers." T&WA, Inc. is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, and operates manufacturing facilities in Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Alabama. Its current customers include Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Honda, Ford, General Motors, Nissan, John Deere and Caterpillar.
