The Greenville Drive Celebrates the Boy Scouts at Fluor Field

The Blue Ridge Council Boy Scouts of America will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Eagle Scout Award with a special Scout Night at the Greenville Drive Baseball Game on August 6th. "Over 1,100 Scouts and volunteers are expected to attend the celebration event" said Blue Ridge Council CEO, Mike Butler. "The night will include a pre-game parade on the field of all present scouts, plus in-game participation by scouts and scout leaders in between inning entertainment and other activities". There will also be a special pre-game reception for Eagle Scout Alumni from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM in the 500 club. Tickets for the reception are available by contacting the Boy Scout Service Center at 864-233-8363.

Special recognition during the game will be given to Russell Smart, Principal and CFO of Windsor Aughtry. Mr. Smart is the recipient of the Silver Buffalo Award, the highest award given by the National Boy Scouts of America to its volunteers. "Russell has served the Scouts in numerous, significant leadership positions and has played a tremendous role in providing the highest quality program experience for thousands of youth and adults through the Boy Scouts of America", said Blue Ridge Council President Elect, Phillip Kilgore. "We hope the Greenville community will join us in celebrating this wonderful organization".

This year's Scout Night at Fluor Field marks the 4th year in a continuing partnership between the Blue Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America and the Greenville Drive. Craig Brown, Drive Co-Owner and President commented on the upcoming game, noting "The Drive is delighted to be able to showcase the great benefits Scouting provides to families here in the Upstate. The strength of this organization's leadership and the richness of the developmental program they offer the young men in our Community represents a quality of life advantage we can all be thankful for!"
