This 6.6 mile passage of the Palmetto Trail follows the ridges on the SC/NC state line, with amazing views of the 19,000 acre tract of the Poinsett Reservoir of the Greenville Watershed System. This part of the trail is also one of the most significant wilderness areas in South Carolina, as part of a unique habitat for several rare species of plants and animals. Bring your lunch, water, and a camera. It will be a blast, and you will hike back to your cars at Orchard Lake. The group will meet at 9am at Orchard Lake Camp Ground, and you will carpool to the Trail Head. The cost to participate is $5, and is free to all Palmetto Conservation Foundation members.
If you would like to volunteer your services as a trail guide on the Palmetto Trail or local waterways please contact Dane Hanna at (803)771-0870. For more information, please visit www.palmettoconservation.org. The mission of the Palmetto Conservation Foundation is to conserve South Carolina's natural and cultural resources, preserve historic landmarks, and promote outdoor recreation through trails and greenways.
