Madeleine Manufacturing, a quality producer of dust ruffles, pillow shams and associated linens, announced a 60,000 square-foot manufacturing operation in Union County. The company�s only location also distributes products from its manufacturing plant.Since the startup in May, the new company has grown to a current employment of 70 employees and has a goal of 100 workers by the end of the year. Occupying the former Liebhardt Building on Brown�s Creek Church Road Madeline plans on investing $300,000 in capital and creating up to 150 new jobs within the next two years. Govenor Jim Hodges said, �In our current business climate, thousands of textile jobs are migrating south. But, Madeleine Manufacturing has made their decision to keep these quality jobs here in the U.S. Madeleine�s announcement demonstrates that South Carolina and the United States have the quality work force necessary to produce the finest quality products.�
Stanley Vanderford, director Union County Development Board said, �Union County is very thankful to the Madeleine executives for choosing Union as their first location. We are grateful especially during these very trying days of the declining textile industry that we have someone starting a business rather than closing one.� Madeleine Manufacturing supplies numerous linen products including pillow shams and dust ruffles to countries throughout the world, the U.S. and Canada for some of the largest and fastest-growing retail organizations.
