The Limestone College Extended Campus Program has begun offering a half tuition rate to all members of the United States Armed Forces, both active and reserve.
Members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard are being charged 50-percent tuition per course in both the evening classroom and Internet settings. The cost at the current rate will be $312 per course (3 semester hours) for this academic year ending June 30, 2007. Next year, the tuition will be $324 per course. There is an additional $100 technology fee for Internet courses. Limestone College is very proud of our students who currently serve in the Armed Forces, said Dave Rilling, Limestones Vice President for Financial Affairs and a former Marine. We believe that this policy is the right thing to do to support all of those brave men and women. According to C.R. Horton, Vice President for Information Technology and Director of the Extended Campus Internet Program and a former member of the U.S. Navy, the new tuition rate will allow military personnel to fulfill the requirements of a bachelors degree and remain under the current $4,500 cap of the Armed Forces Tuition Assistance Program. This institution has a long history of easing the path to higher education for those who might otherwise have found it difficult, said Limestone College President Dr. Walt Griffin. We are very proud to uphold that legacy with this significant change in our tuition policy. The Limestone College Extended Campus Classroom Program has sites throughout South Carolina, including two that are near military bases, Charleston (Charleston Air Force Base and the Marine Corp Recruit Depot in Beaufort), and Columbia (Ft. Jackson Army Base and Shaw Air Force Base). The Extended Campus Internet Program offers online course to soldiers stationed around the world. For more information, military personnel should call the Extended Campus at 1-866-654-2223 or speak with their Education Service Officer. (Images provided by Limestone.)
