Leading gasket manufacturer announces plant in Anderson: $4 Million Investment, 60 New Jobs

ILPEA INC., a world leader in the manufacturing of refrigeration gaskets, has announced plans to soon open its 10th U.S. plant in Anderson, SC. The company will manufacture primarily refrigeration gaskets for Electrolux Home Products, also located in Anderson. ILPEA will be investing more than $ 4 million in capital and within the next year will employ more than 60 associates, according to Roger Titus, Anderson Plant Manager.

ILPEA INC. was formed after INDUSTRIE ILPEA S.p.A of Malgesso, Italy, purchased the refrigerator/freezer gasket business from GenCorp in 1998. During its previous 40 years of operations, ILPEA had enlarged its scope to include developing and operating 19 plants outside of the U.S. The acquisition of the two GenCorp facilities marked the first entry into domestic US markets.

In 2001, INDUSTRIE ILPEA and Holm Industries of Scottsburg, Indiana, were acquired by ILPEA PARENT INC., a Company based in Delaware and supplies a vast array of appliance products to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) markets worldwide.

ILPEA INC, that also manufacture diverse line of appliance products for OEM markets, will locate in the former Joseph Lyons Building at 435 East Shockley Ferry Road (US 29) in Anderson. The building housing the new operation is owned by HIPENN, LLC of Anderson.

" We welcome ILPEA's announcement that it will locate its new refrigerator gasket operation in Anderson County, bringing over 60 new jobs to the area. This announcement shows that Anderson County continues to be an attractive location for manufacturers, and international businesses in particular," said Anderson County Economic Development Director John Lummus.

ILPEA will be eligible for the states statutory incentives, including Job Tax Credits. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved the company for Job Development Credits provided they meet the program criteria.
