Hubbell Lighting, Inc. to Build New $25 Million Headquarters in Greenville, S.C.

Hubbell Lighting, Inc. today announced the selection of Greenville, South Carolina as the site for the companys new headquarters. Hubbell Lighting plans to invest over $25 million in this new facility, which is projected to be complete in late 2006. The facility is likely to be built at the Millennium Campus in the City of Greenville. This will be the future home for Hubbell Lightings 235 current headquarters employees. In addition, the facility will house a state of the art Product Demonstration Showroom and International Training Center. There will also be a Product Research/Development Center with Photometric and UL Certified Testing Laboratories. Hubbell Lighting, Inc. is a subsidiary of Hubbell Incorporated which is based in Orange, CT.

Hubbell Lighting has over 4,500 employees in North America, with manufacturing facilities in nine U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada as well as operations in China. In addition, the Lighting business operates eight Regional Distribution Centers throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The Southeast Region Distribution Center located in Spartanburg, South Carolina will continue to operate in its present location.

Hubbell Lighting conducted a comprehensive review of specific sites in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina to determine the best location option to meet its future needs. Greenville was selected over all other locations in a very competitive selection process. Hubbell Lightings final commitment to South Carolina is pending final approvals of incentives by local and state governmental agencies.

Scott Muse, the Group Vice President of Hubbell Lighting, Inc. stated The Greenville headquarters location was selected for several reasons including: its close proximity to GSP International Airport and the sites clear visibility from Interstate 85 which provides excellent marketing exposure. Hubbell Lighting also wants to remain in Upstate South Carolina in order to retain its high quality workforce and to minimize any business disruption that a major move might create. Because Greenville is home to 40 Fortune 500 companies, the available workforce of executives and professional employees was also an important factor in our decision-making process.

In addition, Muse expressed We were very appreciative of the team approach and support from the State of South Carolina, Greenville County Council, the City of Greenville, the Greenville Area Development Corporation and the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

The fundamental focus of this administration is job growth and raising income levels here in South Carolina, said Governor Mark Sanford. This new headquarters facility will have an impact on both of those fronts, creating high-quality, well paying jobs. I'm excited for Greenville and for the economic development impact this announcement from Hubbell Lighting will have on our state.

County Council is pleased to support a project that will have such a tremendous economic impact, said Phyllis Henderson, Chairwoman of Greenville County Council. Besides new capital investment and jobs, a key component of the headquarters will be a Product Demonstration Showroom and International Training Center. Customers and employees brought to the community to be educated at these facilities will generate significant new sales for area businesses.

Knox White, Mayor of the City of Greenville, said We are pleased to welcome the new headquarters of Hubbell Lighting, Inc. to the City of Greenville. This announcement reflects the confidence of an innovative and growing business in the future of the city and the Millennium Campus.
