Bagels & Grits Discussion at the Library on October 18

Join in an enlightening cultural exhibit at the Hughes Main Library! The exhibit unites a single photojournalistic voice with a diverse mixture of local and regional archives to showcase Jewish life in the American South. Bagels & Grits, by acclaimed photographer Bill Aron, features rich selections that explore home and community life, Jewish traditions and sacred spaces. Aron brings to life the unique subculture of Jewish migration to the South. The exhibit displays Jewish Southerners as not only thriving in both urban and rural communities, but also providing a significant contribution to Southern culture. Likewise, South Carolina is home to important Jewish history, changing the face of Judaism worldwide. Discover these Southern Experiences, many from our own backyard!
