Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) is Now Open for New Business

The Greenville Airport Commission is actively seeking businesses for its seven parcels of land that range in size from 2.5 to 18 acres. This marks the first time these parcels have been listed on the commercial real estate market. GMU is centrally located in the Greenville business district and offers a convenient location for corporate offices, warehouses, data processing centers, freight distribution centers and aviation related companies.

The leasing of the parcels has been awarded to Hunter Garrett, CCIM, SIOR and Tyson Smoak of NAI Earle Furman, a leading full-service brokerage firm in the Upstate of South Carolina. "We are honored to have been chosen for this unique project. Some of the sites have runway access. That's one of the very unique features that this land has to offer," said Tyson Smoak. The plots have flexible zoning and are available for long-term lease. "In today's tight financial markets, long-term ground leases offer a creative alternative to fee simple ownership and the associated up front costs," said Hunter Garrett.

"Greenville and GMU have a lot to offer companies. Our fantastic east coast location along I-85, between Atlanta and Charlotte, midway between New York and Florida, coupled with our low cost of living and tax advantages make us a great business location choice. Our airport commission is very pro-business and is not bound by typical bureaucratic regulations. We look forward to welcoming new businesses and jobs into our Greenville community," said Joe Frasher, Greenville Downtown Airport Director.

GMU is the busiest general aviation airport in South Carolina and is a self-sufficient entity with financial strength that doesn't rely on local taxpayers for funding. The airport is home to more than 25 aviation-related businesses creating 453 jobs that annually contribute more than $35.2 million to the Upstate economy. A friendly and professional air traffic control tower keeps this busy facility operating in a safe and efficient manner. Greenville County recently showed its pro-business approach by lowering the tax rate applicable to aircraft by more than sixty percent (60%). For hassle-free access to the Upstate or a great place to operate a business, GMU is the "Corporate Gateway to Greenville."
