Slater-Marietta Elementary School has many things of which to be proud, but now they can show off their brother and sister duo Isaac and Brittany Shipman who both won State Championships in the NFL’s Punt, Pass and Kick National Competition. After winning the local, regional and state competitions, both competed against the North Carolina state champions during the Carolina Panthers/Tampa Bay football game. Isaac finished first place in passing and took third place overall. Brittany finished first place in passing, first place in kicking and finished second place overall. Slater-Marietta physical education teacher Jody Childs helped the duo train for the Team Championship. Coach Childs says, “Not only are Isaac and Brittany very good athletes, but more importantly, they are very good kids who are always respectful, well disciplined and driven to be the best they can be at everything they do. Creating opportunities for students to find success not only builds them up but provides me an opportunity to emphasize that it is their work ethic, attitude and determination that highly contribute to their success.” (Image provided by Greenville County Schools.)
