Office Depot Donates 200 Backpacks to Greenville County Schools

David Wagner, manager of the Office Depot location on Verdae Boulevard, recently announced the donation of 200 backpacks to students in Greenville County Schools. He made the special presentation at Beck Academy, along with Superintendent Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher and Board Chairman Megan Hickerson.

In conjunction with the announcement, radio station 107.3 JAMZ hosted a live remote broadcast from the Beck Academy parking lot, encouraging listeners to donate school supplies to fill the backpacks. The backpacks and school supplies will be distributed to students through the school Social Work office.

Our store donated 70 backpacks to a single school last year, so this year I wanted to make more of an impact on the entire district, said Mr. Wagner, manager of the Verdae Office Depot location. The corporate office encourages all associates to get out and help our communities.

With Mr. Wagners assistance, Office Depot-Verdae has also been instrumental in getting needed supplies such as food, clothing, and toiletries to students at Crestview Elementary, where his children attend school.

The backpack donation is part of the Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program, where more than 2 million backpacks have been donated to deserving children. Since 2001, the Office Depot Foundation has donated new backpacks to students across the United States, giving them valuable tools they can use to succeed in the classroom.
