Congratulations to J. Harley Bonds Career Center Automotive Tech students Jesse Donald and Trey Brown for their first place award in the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition held recently at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. They had to properly repair defects placed in a 2012 Ford Mustang. Jesse and Trey also won the High Written Test Score trophy. Each student received over $43,000 in scholarships and tools and will travel to Ford�s corporate headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, in June to represent South Carolina in the National Competition. Jesse Donald is a senior at Riverside High and Trey Brown is a junior at Greer High School.The Automotive Technology program at Bonds Career Center is taught by John Romano, who won the same contest in 1976 when he was a senior in the Auto Tech program at Foothills Career Center. He was the last student from Greenville County Schools to win this distinguished contest; now two of his own students follow in his footsteps.
