Twenty-two Greenville County assistant principals and administrative assistants have been selected for the inaugural year of Greenville County Schools Assistant Principal Institute (API), a year-long program of professional growth and leadership development opportunities. The API is designed to specifically meet the professional needs of assistant principals and certified administrative assistants through curriculum modules which will focus on instructional leadership, operational management, finance, communication, and student achievement. Institute participants will meet monthly throughout the 2010-11 school year to discuss, evaluate and understand personal leadership styles, to develop personal action plans, to participate in book studies, and to refine skills needed to become an effective instructional leader in Greenville County Schools. The goal of the Assistant Principal Institute is to enlarge the pool of individuals qualified to assume positions of leadership within the District. API participants underwent a rigorous application process which included a review of letters of recommendation, an evaluation of previous experiences, personal interviews, and completion of a writing sample. 2010 Participants:
