Nominations Now Accepted for ARMES After School Arts Program

Parents of students in grades 4 through 8 may submit a nomination for their child's participation in the ARMES (Arts Reaching Middle and Elementary Students) after-school arts program.

The ARMES program is designed to meet the needs of students who have demonstrated outstanding talents and a deep interest in drama/theatre, visual arts, orchestral strings or dance. The purpose of the program is to allow students to explore their chosen art form in depth while promoting individual creativity. This after-school program provides art education taught by professional artists. All ARMES classes are offered at no cost to the student. However, Orchestral Strings students will be asked to provide their own instrument.

The ARMES program is funded by the South Carolina Educational Improvement Act (EIA) and currently serves approximately 450 students in Greenville County. To learn more about the program, or to complete an application, go to www.fineartscenter.net and choose ARMES.

The deadline for the nominations is Sunday, April 3. Parents will be notified by mail in early May regarding the audition day and time. Auditions are typically held the third week in May. Call 355-2550 for more information.
