The Greenville Area Development Corporation recently announced that it has hired Tavia Murphy as its new project manager.
Prior to joining the GADC, Murphy served as a Manager of the Community and Rural Development Division of the South Carolina Department of Commerce. In that role, she was responsible for improving the economic competitiveness of the Upper Savannah region by assisting local officials with implementing specific economic development strategies. She has also worked for the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism as well as Wachovia. Murphy received her B.A. in Mass Communications from Grambling State University and her Masters in Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina. She is a member of the S.C. Economic Developers Association.
As Project Manager for the GADC, Murphy�s responsibilities will include marketing to and working with potential business prospects, both new and expanding, for Greenville County; helping in the development of short and long range economic development plans; gathering, interpreting, and preparing data for studies and reports; and working with other economic development departments and agencies.
