Freedom Weekend Aloft Announces Featured Concerts


Organizers announced that the 27th annual Freedom Weekend Aloft will again present an exciting and diverse line-up of national recording artists in concert. The 2008 event is scheduled for May 24 through May 26 at Heritage Park in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

Organizers previously announced that The Greenville Hospital System has partnered with the event as the title sponsor and the event has the continued support and participation of Pontiac GMC as presenting sponsor. Proceeds from the Upstate�s highest flying celebration will help support Safe Kids Upstate and Greenville Hospital System�s Every Woman Program. Country music�s award winning duo; Montgomery Gentry will headline on Saturday, May 24, 2008. Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry have produced more than 20 chart topping singles including the #1 hits �If I Ever Stop Loving You�, �Something To Be Proud Of�, �Lucky Man� and 9 more TOP TEN HITS. The duo�s albums have included CARRYING ON (2001), MY TOWN (2002), YOU DO YOUR THING (2004), SOME PEOPLE CHANGE (2006) as well as a Greatest Hits package. The Heritage Park Amphitheater gates will open at 6:00 PM with an opening concert to be announced separately starting at 8:00 PM followed by Montgomery Gentry.

On Sunday, May 25 prepare to be transported �Back In Time� with the group that made the theme song from the 1985 film BACK TO THE FUTURE a hit! Two time Grammy Winners Huey Lewis and The News will headline. With albums from gold to triple platinum concert goers will recognize the over 19 TOP TEN HITS that Huey Lewis and The News have to their credits. From the #1 hit �The Power Of Love� which was nominated for an Academy Award to �Heart Of Rock And Roll�, �Do You Believe In Love�, �I Want A New Drug�, �Heart And Soul�, �Hip To Be Square�, �Back In Time� and many more.

The Heritage Park Amphitheater gates will open for each evening�s featured concerts at 6:00 PM with opening acts which will be announced soon taking to the stage at 8:00 PM followed by the headlining acts of Montgomery Gentry on Sat., May 24 and Huey Lewis and The News on Sun., May 25. Tickets for these concerts go on sale Tuesday, April 15, 2008 on-line at www.ticketmaster.com. Discount tickets will be available for a limited time with premium Gold Circle general admission and Lawn general admission. Organizers encourage coming early as the festival attractions which are free will begin each day at 10:00 AM with the Bi-Lo KidZone, Disc Dog competitions, Featured Balloon Flight at 6:00 PM, multiple musical stages, great food and more.
