Greenville Farmers Market Bursting with Fall Harvest.

The Greenville Farmers Market is bursting with fruit and vegetables from this season's fall harvest. The fruits and vegetables include a variety of apples, red and green grapes, pumpkins, sweet and white potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes and much, much more.

Amy Forrest, Upstate Marketing Specialist, says, "The Greenville Farmers Market has a good selection and abundant supply of fresh fruits and vegetables. Roadside markets and the Greenville Farmers Market have been replacing dwindling summer peaches with local apples of many different varieties."

Forrest also says, "Most markets have a wide selection of fresh, local honey, including the very popular sourwood honey. Beekeepers began collecting honey from their hives last month to meet the demands of the fall season."

The Upstate apple crop is in full harvest at this time, and the Upstate apple farmers are reporting a good harvest. "The next four weeks will be the peak of apple season for me," said Dick Perdue, owner of Perdue's Mountain Fruit Farm just north of Tigerville on Highway 11. Perdue also says, "The eating quality of our apples is very high due to the lower levels of precipitation that the Upstate received in the latter part of this growing season.

Perdue's Mountain Fruit Farm raises a variety of apples, and won seven blue ribbon awards for seven varieties of his apples this year at the S.C. State Fair. In addition to apples, Perdue's Mountain Fruit Farm also has a crop of fresh raspberries ready for the market. Perdue's Mountain Fruit Farm sells his produce at his local market and at the Greenville Farmers Market.

If you want to enjoy some of the freshest fruit and vegetables available on the market and experience a wonderful shopping venue, drop by the Greenville Farmers Market. The Greenville Farmers Market is located north of Greenville off of Pleasantburg Road at 1354 Rutherford Road. For further information call 1-864-244-4023.
