Can you eat 16 hot dogs in 12 minutes? That�s all it will take to become the
South Carolina Festival of Discovery Hot Dog Eating Contest all-time champion in Greenwood, SC.
Just this past weekend, Joey �Jaws� Chestnut downed 54 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to take the
Nathan�s Famous Fourth Contest crown. Surely someone can eat just 16 hot dogs to take the Festival
of Discovery record? Last year, Newnan, Georgia�s Larry McNeil walked away with the 2009 title.The contest will be held at Noon, Saturday, July 10 at the Century Link main stage tent. This year�s champion walks away with a $250 prize and the right to claim the name of 2010 Festival of Discovery Hot Dog Eating Champion! Contestants are allowed to use almost any tactic as long as they eat both the wiener and bun. Contestants can register ahead of time by calling Uptown Greenwood at (864) 942-8448. The form is available online on the Uptown website, www.uptowngreenwood.com. There is no entry fee, however contestants much be at least 18 years old and complete and entry form to compete. The South Carolina Festival of Discovery is coordinated and sponsored by the Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation (UGDC). The Festival celebrates the folk and traditional arts, crafts, music, and foods that have provided the context and character of the American South and Greenwood County.
