Clemson to Host Planet Birthday Bash Concert September 30


Bands Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold, Shinedown and Saving Abel will help rock station 93.3 The Planet celebrate its 12th birthday with a concert at Clemson University�s Littlejohn Coliseum Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Tickets for The Planet�s Birthday Bash go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, and will be available at the Littlejohn Coliseum east gate box office, TicketMaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com. All tickets are $35 plus applicable fees. Clemson students will receive a $5 discount on tickets, with a maximum of two tickets sold per Clemson ID card.

Buckcherry will release its fourth album �Black Butterfly� in September. Buckcherry�s first album, �Buckcherry,� was certified gold in 1999 and its 2006 album �15� was certified platinum. The band has been touring as part of Motley Crue�s Crue Fest Tour this summer.

Avenged Sevenfold started out as an indie rock band from California. They achieved mainstream success in 2005 with the album �City of Evil.� Last year, the band released a self-titled album that debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The group defies being categorized into a genre, with their style ranging from heavy metal, to rock, to punk, to soft rock and even country at times.

Florida rockers Shinedown recently released their third album: �The Sound of Madness.� Their first two albums, �Leave a Whisper� and �Us and Them,� were certified platinum and gold, respectively, and produced seven consecutive top-five rock and alternative radio hits that included �Fly From the Inside,� �45,� the chart topping �Save Me� and a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd�s �Simple Man.�

Saving Abel released its self-titled debut album in March, and the first single, �Addicted,� is at No. 2 on the U.S. mainstream rock chart.
