Central Textiles, an industrial fabrics producer of wall-covering substrates, material for career apparel uniforms, and pocketing for jeans, announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Pickens County. The 180,000 square-foot textile facility formerly occupied by Mayfair Mills will add $2 million in capital investment and create up to 180 new jobs in the next few years.J.M. �Jim� McKinnon, president of Central Textiles said, �This plant is a good fit with our existing facility in Central. It is close by and we know they have good people here. We will make every effort to bring back as many of the former employees as possible. We are also grateful for the support and encouragement we have received from the officials in Pickens and are pleased to be able to expand our operations here in the county,� added McKinnon. Governor Jim Hodges said, �Its a compliment to our state�s accomplished workforce that Central Textiles chose to expand in Pickens County. The high confidence they have in our the state�s economy will help develop our industrial textile markets.�
