Commercial Construction Company Establishes Greenville Office to Support Southeast Growth

A 100-year-old commercial and industrial construction company is just getting settled into its new space in a vibrant micro-community on Greenville’s Main Street, and its employees are already loving the location.

Graycor, Inc. is headquartered in Chicago and has offices across the United States. Brian Gallagher, the Graycor vice president of corporate development, lives in the Greenville area. He and a colleague are getting the new Graycor office in Spaces Falls Tower set up. Gallagher said their second-floor office, which overlooks Falls Park, is now furnished, has working I.T., and they’ve even picked up a couple office plants.

Gallagher said Graycor has been doing business in South Carolina for a while, but the workload is increasing. Gallagher said the Greenville office will support Graycor’s growth throughout the southeast region. “We chose Greenville because it provides great access to our clients and access to talent,” Gallagher said. “The city’s business community, amenities, and resources make Greenville the ideal city for Graycor’s next location.”

The company is using a model that has been successful in other cities such as Charlotte: Start small and grow into their space. Graycor is leasing its office, which is in the city’s Camperdown Development, a bustling complex where people can work, live, shop, and eat. Gallagher said he has already taken advantage the perks of their new location. He said it’s been nice to set up meetings over coffee or lunch and be able to walk to them.

Gallagher said Graycor has posted several positions for the Greenville office, including estimator and project manager jobs in commercial and industrial construction. He said he’s already gotten some interest in those positions.

Merle Johnson, Greenville’s Economic and Community Development Director, said the city looks forward to the Graycor team growing its southeast operations from here on Main Street. “Greenville continues to be a great hub for construction, design, and engineering services and draws top-notch talent in those fields,” Johnson said.
