Greenville Zoo Receives Pinnacle Award for Distance Learning Program

The Greenville Zoo has received a 2019-2020 Pinnacle Award from the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC) for its distance learning program.

The CILC is a nonprofit organization and the nation’s leading clearinghouse for interactive, virtual programs for students and lifelong learners. Each year, the CILC recognizes content providers from museums, science centers, art galleries, zoos and aquariums around the world for the quality of their educational content and program delivery.

This is the seventh time the Greenville Zoo has won the award in eight years.

According to Lynn Watkins, the Greenville Zoo’s education curator, nearly 8,000 children took part in the Greenville Zoo’s distance learning program last year and its instructors received outstanding ratings on program evaluations completed by educators and activity directors.

“The Greenville Zoo is proud to be part of such a supportive organization and to be recognized for our fun, educational and interactive programming,” said Watkins. “The CILC has provided our educators with a seamless way to reach students thousands of miles away who may never have the opportunity to visit the Southeast, much less the Greenville Zoo.”
